Ethical Standards

Maspul Journal of English Studies (MAJESTY) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and to preventing all forms of publication malpractice. The journal expects editors, reviewers, and authors to uphold integrity, transparency, academic responsibility, and ethical conduct throughout the publication process.

This statement is informed by widely accepted principles of scholarly publishing ethics and is intended to guide all parties involved in the submission, review, editing, and publication of manuscripts.

Corrections

In accordance with accepted standards of scholarly publishing, Maspul Journal of English Studies (MAJESTY) preserves the integrity of the published record and does not alter published articles except when necessary to correct serious errors introduced during the editorial or production process.

When a published article contains a significant error that affects the reader’s understanding, interpretation, or evaluation of the work, the journal may publish a correction notice. The correction notice will be linked to the original article, and the original article will remain part of the scholarly record.

Examples of significant errors may include inaccurate data presentation, misleading wording, incorrect attribution, or errors in tables, figures, quotations, or references that substantially affect the meaning of the article.

Retractions

In accordance with the Retraction Guidelines by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), JMLE will retract a published article if:

• there is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable, whether as a result of misconduct, such as data fabrication or falsification, or as a result of honest error, such as serious miscalculation or methodological failure;
• the work has been published elsewhere without appropriate acknowledgment, permission, or justification;
• the manuscript contains plagiarism;
• the research reported in the article is found to be unethical.

A retracted article will be clearly identified as retracted, and a retraction notice will be published and linked to the article. Where necessary, the journal may also publish an expression of concern while an investigation is ongoing.

By submitting a manuscript to Maspul Journal of English Studies (MAJESTY), authors confirm that the manuscript is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Authors are expected to observe the following responsibilities:

1. Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original and that all sources, ideas, words, and data derived from other works are properly acknowledged through accurate citation and referencing.
2. Authors must not submit substantially the same manuscript to more than one journal or publication venue at the same time. Redundant or duplicate publication is considered unethical.
3. Authors must present an accurate and objective account of the research or scholarly work conducted. Data, interpretations, and conclusions must be reported honestly and without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate manipulation.
4. Manuscripts must contain sufficient detail and references to enable readers and researchers to understand, evaluate, and, where applicable, replicate the work.
5. Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, professional, or personal conflicts of interest that may influence the interpretation or presentation of the work. All sources of funding or research support must also be clearly acknowledged.
6. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce any copyrighted material, including figures, images, tables, or extended textual extracts, where necessary.
7. Authors retain copyright of their work. If the manuscript is accepted for publication, the published article will be licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
8. Authorship must accurately reflect individual contributions to the work. Only those who have made substantial scholarly contributions should be listed as authors. Individuals whose contributions are indirect or limited should be acknowledged appropriately in the Acknowledgements section.
9. The corresponding author must ensure that all listed co-authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript and have agreed to its submission and publication.
10. If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in a published article, the author must promptly notify the editor and cooperate fully in the correction or retraction process.

Reviewers play an essential role in maintaining the academic quality and integrity of the journal. They are expected to provide fair, objective, and constructive evaluations of submitted manuscripts.

Reviewers are expected to observe the following responsibilities:

1. Reviewers should accept manuscripts for review only when the manuscript matches their area of expertise and when they are able to complete the review within the requested timeframe.
2. Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents. They must not share, discuss, or disclose any part of the manuscript with others except when authorized by the editor.
3. Reviewers must conduct reviews objectively and professionally. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. All comments should be expressed clearly, respectfully, and supported by academic reasoning.
4. Reviewers should provide constructive feedback that helps authors improve the quality, clarity, and scholarly contribution of their manuscripts, regardless of whether the manuscript is recommended for acceptance or rejection.
5. Reviewers should identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors and should alert the editor to any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and other published or submitted works known to them.
6. Reviewers must inform the editor of any ethical concerns they identify in the manuscript, including plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, data falsification, or unethical research practices.
7. Reviewers must decline the review if they have any conflict of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, institutional, or personal relationships with any of the authors or affiliated institutions.
8. Information and ideas obtained through peer review must not be used for personal advantage or any purpose outside the review process.

The editors of Maspul Journal of English Studies (MAJESTY) are responsible for making publication decisions and for ensuring the integrity, fairness, and quality of the editorial process.

Editors are expected to observe the following responsibilities:

1. Editors have full responsibility and authority to accept, reject, or request revisions to submitted manuscripts based on scholarly merit, originality, relevance to the journal’s scope, clarity of presentation, and reviewers’ recommendations.
2. Editors must evaluate manuscripts without discrimination on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, nationality, citizenship, institutional affiliation, or political belief of the authors.
3. Editors must maintain the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and must not disclose any information about a manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher, where appropriate.
4. Editors must ensure that the peer-review process is conducted fairly, objectively, and in a timely manner, and that the anonymity of the double-blind review process is protected.
5. Editors must not use unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research or professional benefit without the explicit written consent of the author.
6. Editors must take reasonable steps to identify and prevent the publication of manuscripts involving plagiarism, duplicate publication, data manipulation, citation manipulation, unethical research, or any other form of publication misconduct.
7. Editors should give proper consideration to ethical issues in the reported research. Where necessary, editors may request clarification from authors regarding ethical approval, informed consent, permissions, or other relevant documentation.
8. Editors must respond appropriately when ethical complaints are raised concerning a submitted or published manuscript. Such responses may include consultation with reviewers, authors, editorial board members, or relevant institutions, as well as the publication of corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern when necessary.

Maspul Journal of English Studies (MAJESTY) is committed to safeguarding the integrity of the scholarly record. Allegations of misconduct will be handled seriously, fairly, and confidentially. The journal reserves the right to investigate suspected ethical violations and to take appropriate editorial action when misconduct is confirmed.

Majesty Journal does not tolerate any form of publication misconduct, including but not limited to plagiarism, citation manipulation, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate submission, redundant publication, and unethical research involving human or animal subjects. When ethical violations are identified, the journal reserves the right to take appropriate action, including manuscript rejection, publication of correction, retraction, and notification to the authors’ affiliated institutions when necessary.
