Author Guidelines for Majesty Journal

General Submission Rules

Majesty Journal welcomes the submission of original scholarly manuscripts in the broad field of English studies. A manuscript submitted to the journal must be the original work of the author(s), must not have been published previously, and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Manuscripts previously presented in conferences may be considered only if they have been substantially revised and developed into a full scholarly article. All submissions must be prepared for a double-blind peer-review process; therefore, authors must remove all identifying information from the manuscript before submission. Manuscripts are accepted only through the journal’s official submission system.

Before submission, authors are expected to ensure that their manuscript fits the focus and scope of Majesty Journal, complies with the journal’s ethical standards, and follows all formatting and referencing requirements. Authors should also make sure that the manuscript has been carefully proofread for clarity, grammar, and academic style.

Authors are required to prepare their manuscripts using the Majesty Journal template.

Types of Articles

Majesty Journal accepts the following categories of manuscripts:

1. Research Articles

Research Articles report original empirical or theoretical studies in areas relevant to the journal’s scope. These articles are generally organized into introduction, literature review, research problem or questions, methodology, findings, discussion, and conclusion.

2. Review Articles

Review Articles provide critical and systematic discussion of important issues, trends, theories, or bodies of literature in English studies and related fields. These articles should offer analytical depth and clear scholarly contribution.

3. Conceptual Papers

Conceptual Papers develop theoretical arguments, critical reflections, or scholarly perspectives relevant to the field of English studies. These papers should present coherent, well-structured, and academically grounded arguments.

4. Book Reviews

Book Reviews evaluate recently published scholarly books relevant to the journal’s readership. A review should clearly explain the main ideas, scholarly contribution, strengths, and limitations of the book under discussion.

Submission Preparation Checklist

Before submitting a manuscript to Majesty Journal, authors should ensure that:

  1. The manuscript is written in English.
  2. The manuscript conforms to the journal’s formatting requirements and uses the official journal template.
  3. The manuscript is prepared for blind peer review, with all author-identifying information removed.
  4. The manuscript includes an abstract of no more than 250 words and three to five keywords.
  5. The manuscript follows the current APA Style (7th edition) for citation and referencing.
  6. The manuscript file includes all components in a single document, including tables, figures, appendices, and references.
  7. The reference list contains only sources cited in the text, and all in-text citations are fully matched in the reference list.

Manuscript Length

The recommended length of manuscripts is as follows:

  • Research Articles: 6,000–8,000 words
  • Review Articles / Conceptual Papers: 4,000–7,000 words
  • Book Reviews: 750–2,500 words

The word count includes the main text, abstract, references, tables, figures, and appendices.

Formatting Requirements

Manuscripts must be submitted in Word or RTF format as a single file. The journal uses APA Style, 7th edition, for references, tables, and figures. Authors should not insert page numbers, headers, or footers, as these will be added during the editorial process. The manuscript should be checked carefully to eliminate grammatical errors, stylistic inconsistencies, and typographical mistakes before submission.

Language and Grammar

All submissions must be written in English. Either British English or American English may be used, but usage must be consistent throughout the manuscript. Authors are expected to use clear, formal, and grammatically accurate academic English. Foreign words or phrases should be avoided unless necessary; when used, they should be italicized where appropriate.

Style and Layout

The manuscript should use the following layout:

  • Paper size: A4
  • Margins: normal/standard margins on all sides
  • Font: Cambria, 12 pt for the main text
  • Footnotes: Cambria, 10 pt
  • Alignment: left-justified
  • Layout: single column
  • Line spacing: single-spaced

Authors should use italics rather than underlining for emphasis. Titles of books, films, and similar works should also be italicized. Abbreviations such as “e.g.,” “i.e.,” and “&” should be used within parentheses, while full wording should be used in running text where appropriate.

Indenting, Headings, and Footnotes

All paragraphs should be indented, except those immediately following section headings. No extra spacing should be inserted between paragraphs, except where required for long quotations or other special textual elements.

Headings should follow a consistent hierarchy:

  1. Centered and bold
  2. Left-aligned and bold
  3. Run-in heading in italics

Footnotes should be used only when essential information cannot appropriately be placed in the main text. Footnote markers must follow punctuation, not precede it. Excessively long footnotes should be avoided and, where necessary, transferred to an appendix.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures must conform to APA Style (7th edition). Each table or figure must be numbered, provided with a suitable caption, and explicitly cited in the main text. Wherever possible, tables and figures should appear near the section in which they are first mentioned. Large tables or figures may be placed on separate pages within the same manuscript file. Tables and figures must remain legible and fit within the required page margins.

Mathematics, Color, and Final File Preparation

Mathematical expressions should follow standard scholarly conventions. Variables should be italicized where appropriate, and subscripts or superscripts should be clearly formatted. Authors are encouraged to use black font for the main body of the manuscript. Color may be used in figures when necessary, but authors should ensure that the material remains understandable if printed in black and white. The final manuscript file must not contain tracked changes, colored comments, or editing mark-ups.

References

All references cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and no uncited works should be included in the reference list. In-text citations and the reference list must fully conform to APA Style (7th edition). When multiple citations are provided within the same parentheses, they should be arranged alphabetically. The reference list should appear at the end of the manuscript before any appendices. Authors are responsible for ensuring the completeness and accuracy of all bibliographic information.

Copyright and License

By submitting a manuscript to Majesty Journal, authors confirm that they hold the necessary rights to the submitted work and that the manuscript does not infringe the copyright of others. Authors are also responsible for obtaining written permission for any copyrighted material included in the manuscript, such as images, tables, or long textual extracts.
